PinEdit Desktop v7.1 Word 2007 Support
|

We are currently using PinEdit v6.1 Desktop and need to support importing of Word 2007 documents. Does 7.1 support the import and formatting for Word 2007? If it does, how invasive will be upgrading to v7.1? I am hoping we can just drop it in with minimal porting.

Hello,
pinEdit is able to read docx documents that are saved as html.
But our experience is that those html documents include a lot of invalid html code and should be cleaned by using a HTML optimizer like Tidy from w3c.org.
We also offer a library pinDocX) that converts docx files to html.
Best Regards,
Hans-Peter

Thanks. We are trying to avoid upgrading from v6.1 due to time constraints and it looks like we can import docx files as-is using this version. Can you offer any suggestions as to the constraints we may run into with docx? And, would those constraints be removed by using HTML? Thanks again.

Hello,
as I mentioned before the generated HTML code from Word (whether saved as HTML file or pasted by using clipboard) includes a lot of code that is not HTML compatible.
Therefore we recommend using Tidy Html Optmizer to remove invalid HTML code.
We can provide code how to use Tidy if you like.
Regards,
Hans-Peter
